Biography

The icon of Polish cinematography, known both in Poland and abroad, has played 120 different roles with the greatest directors. Zany, with his extravagant behavior, remains an undisputed star of great importance.

Born in Łowicz, he grew up in Drohiczyn, but graduated from high school in Warsaw. From an early age he dreamed of being an actor, for the first time on the theater stage he appeared in a school play directed by his mother. He allegedly got into the acting school with the highest number of points in the year, but he gave it up to fully devote himself to an acting career.

He appeared on the glass screen for the first time thanks to Janusz Nasfeter, engaging Olbrychski in the role of a young corporal in the film Wounded in the Forest ” based on the novel by Witold Zalewski. At that time, the actor was only 218 years old, he was just starting his acting school and still belonged to the TVP Youth Theater, whose guardian was Andrzej Konica at the time. In 1965, the young actor’s long-term cooperation with the excellent Polish director Andrzej Wajda began. Olbrychski himself claims that it was thanks to the opportunity given by Wajda that the door to the West opened for him. In 1965, the director offered him a role in “Popioły”. Since then, he became a new star of Polish cinema and began to appear regularly in films. In the same year, he appeared in Morgenstern’s “Then Will Be Silence”. It was a military-psychological drama. As an athlete, we could see him in Julian Dziedzina’s “Boxer” (the title role was played by the then Polish and European boxing champion Leszek Drogosz) and an athlete in “Jowita”. Zbyszek Cybulski, Irena Kwiatkowska and Kalina Jędrusik starred with him in the film.

Olbrychski then appeared in such excellent productions as Landscape after the Battle, based on Tadeusz Borowski’s stories (he played Tadeusz, a young poet struggling with reality after leaving the concentration camp), Wesele (the role of the groom), The Promised Land (he portrayed in the form of a nobleman dreaming of an industrial career) or “Maidens from Wolf” (the role of Wktor Rubene, who returns to his homeland after many years). He is permanently remembered by viewers with his performances in screen adaptations of Sienkiewicz’s novels. In “Pan Wołodyjowski” he played Asia Tuhajbejowicz, in “The Deluge” by Kmicic (this role aroused considerable controversy, many considered it absurd for Olbrychski to play this character, but after the premiere of the film this role was hailed as brilliant, simply legendary), and in “Ogniem and sword” from 1999, he played the smaller role of Tuhaj-bey.

He became known to Western cinema thanks to his roles in such films as “The Tin Drum” by Volker Schlöndorff, “Both and Others” by Claude Lelouch, “Diagonal of a Messenger” by Richard Dembo or “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” by Philip Kaufman.

Outside of the cinema, the actor constantly appears in the theater. He was associated with the Powszechny Theater and the National Theater in Warsaw. His theatrical debut was in 1969. Since then, he has played most of the roles that actors dream of. In this way, we could see him as Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, Beniowski or Cześnik. He performed on the boards of both Polish and foreign theaters. He has been awarded many times for his acting achievements. The actor is a laureate of, among others, the Golden Mask, the Golden Camera, the Zbyszek Cybulski. In 1999, he received his star in the Avenue of Stars on ul. Piotrkowska in Łódź.

Privately, he was married three times, his current partner is Krystyna Dębska. He has four children: three daughters and one son, Rafał, who is also an actor, and a musician.

Biography

Mišel Matičević was born in West Berlin to Croatian parents who were guest workers in West Germany. Following his parents’ divorce, he lived with his mother in Berlin-Spandau. He was initially a trouble maker in childhood and would get in fistfights at school. He refused to join the school’s theater group, feeling it was only for kids who were trying to “suck up” to the teachers. However, Matičević saw the 1983 film Danton with Gérard Depardieu and was inspired by Depardieu’s performance to become an actor.

He studied acting from 1994 until 1998 at the Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg in Potsdam. While there, he performed with the Berliner Ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and the Kleist Theater in Frankfurt Oder.

Since 1996, Matičević has acted in several crime series and films for German television and cinema. He was awarded the Best Actor Award at the 2000 Thessaloniki International Film Festival for his performance in Lost Killers (1999).  In 2007, he played the role of the German poet and novelist Clemens Brentano in the film Das Gelübde, which depicts Brentano’s encounter with the stigmatised nun Anne Catherine Emmerich.

Matičević’s first international role was in the TNT miniseries The Company in 2006, a show about the CIA in which he played a fictional Hungarian poet called Arpad Zelk, a leader of the Hungarian uprising in 1956.

Biography

Luke Damon Goss (born 29 September 1968) is an English actor, and drummer of the 1980s band Bros. He has appeared in numerous films including Blade II (2002) as Jared Nomak, One Night with the King (2006) as King Xerxes, Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) as Prince Nuada, Tekken (2009) as Steve Fox, Interview with a Hitman (2012) as Viktor, and Traffik (2018) as Red.
Goss, along with twin brother Matt Goss, started his career with the 1980s boy band Bros. In total he has charted with thirteen hit singles in the UK.
When Bros broke up in the early 1990s, Goss worked with the Band of Thieves where he released two singles “Sweeter Than The Midnight Rain” and “Give Me One More Chance”, he then released “L.I.F.E.” under the band’s name change Thieves Like Us due to a change in lineup. His autobiography “I Owe You Nothing” was a top 10 best seller and went on to have three subsequent printings. He also began to appear in stage musicals including Grease and What a Feeling, and has turned to acting in films full-time, with his first most notable role being the villain in Blade II. He also appeared as The Creature in the Hallmark Channel’s Frankenstein. Goss can be seen in the 2004 crime drama, Charlie in which he plays real-life gangster Charlie Richardson. In the 2005 comedy The Man, he starred as another villain, Joey/Kane, alongside Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson.
He has since had roles in One Night with the King, as King Xerxes. He appeared in Bone Dry, as Eddie and in the thriller Unearthed, as Kale. Goss received a CAMIE (Character and Morality in Entertainment) Award for his work in One Night with the King on 12 May 2007 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Both One Night with the King and Bone Dry were viewed at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Bone Dry premiered in Los Angeles on 9 January 2008.
In the autumn of 2008, Goss returned from filming Hellboy II: The Golden Army in Budapest, Hungary, in which he plays Prince Nuada. The sequel was released in North America on 11 July 2008.
In February 2008 he signed to play the role of Steve Fox in Tekken, which was filmed in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was seen in a commercial for the new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. In January 2010, Goss won the role as Frankenstein in Death Race 2which was originally played by Jason Statham in the first film, under the direction from Roel Reiné, which began shooting on location in Eastern Europe in February 2010. Goss also played the lead role in Syfy’s dark tale television film Witchville In May 2010, he won the Ultimate Badass Award at the PollyGrind Film Festival for his role in the zombie-vampire film The Dead Undead. In February 2018, Goss released his directorial debut Your Move.

Biography

Leon Lučev was born in Šibenik, Croatia in 1970. He finished primary school and high school in Šibenik. In 1991 he joined the homeland war as a member of the Croatian army. In 1992 he enrolled in the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb, and a year later the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. During his studies in 1994, he shot his first feature film “Kako je počeo rat na mom otoku”(How the war started on my island) with director Vinko Brešan, which became a big hit. While studying, he worked with Lukas Nola, Zvonimir Jurić and Ognjen Sviličić in their early films. In 1997, after graduation from the Academy of Dramatic Art, he joined the permanent cast of the ITD Theatre. During that period (1997 – 2003) he worked with top theatre directors: Tomi Janežić, Damir Zlatar Fray and Lukas Nola.

He worked with a number of current European and regional film artists: Hans-Christian Schmidt, Jasmila Žbanić, Hrvoje Hribar, Vinko Brešan, Lukas Nola, Angelina Jolie, Zrinko Ogresta, Branko Schmidt, Janez Burger, Ognjen Glavonić, Antoneta Kusijanović and others. He took part in regional co-productions and shoots in Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Germany and Hungary.

From 2003 – 2010 he takes part in workshops and educational seminars in acting techniques according to Jerzy Grotowski, Clowning, Buffons and Majerhold. His teachers

are Lee Delong and Richard Nieoczym. In 2006 he founded Živa produkcija, his production company. During the next several years (2006 – 2014) he participated in most of regional, European and world festivals as an actor and a producer. His films won awards in Pula, Berlin, Sundance, Sarajevo, Brussels, Cannes, Los Angeles and Jerusalem; as an actor he won awards in Iran, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Slovenia, Srbija, Kosovo, Russia and Germany.

At the first Sarajevo Film Festival in 2007 he started teaching at the Sarajevo Talent Campus. He developed his own personal way of working with actors, which he has been using ever since, calling it Close up and personal.

For the last 15 years, he has been developing a method of acting and teaching. At first, he starts independently, and for the last five years in collaboration with Jelena Graovac Lučev, his wife – also a professional actress,  through the project “An actor has a time” ( org: Glumac ima vremena” ).

This program of teaching became a very successful in a short period of time, in the region as well as beyond, especially with young actors who have the desire to progress and work outside the established framework, and the ambition to participate in various international artistic projects.

Biography

Born in Belgrade, Serbia and raised in Frankfurt, Anica Dobra calls both Germany and the Balkans her home. Being a thoroughbred actress and having enjoyed the best in stage- and on-camera training, Anica Dobra is very busy working in both countries. She became well-known in the 1990s in Germany when she worked together with the finest of directors mainly in comedies for the big screen but also in crime and drama feature films for TV. Her characters take control in a straightforward, hard-hitting, and pugnacious manner. She was awarded Best Actress several times. Anica Dobra is a frequent traveler since her family lives in Belgrade. But she also feels drawn to Munich, Germany which is her second home. Audiences love her for her unconventional beauty and charming wit.
