Biography

 

Boris Isakovic was born in 1966, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 1992. He has been a member of the ensemble of Serbian National Theatre Drama since 1995, as well as Director of Drama there in 2001/2002, and again 2012/ 2013. He is a full time Professor at the Acting Department at Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.

He’s been awarded many times during his career both for his theatrical and film work on all the prestigious national festivals as well as many international.

2022

Working Class Heroes”,  with Boris Isakovic and Jasna Đuričić in the leading roles directed by Milos Pusic was  premiered shown at the Berlinale this year, after that on Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The film received  international recognition, excellent reviews from many film renowned critics . “Working Class Heroes”,  has also received accolades and awards such as: Grand Prix  at the 90th anniversary film festival Anrei Tarkovsky International Film Festival “Zerkalo”; at the Biografilm Festival (2022): Audience Award, etc.

2021

Film “Quo Vadis Aida?” multiple award-winner author’s film by Jasmila Žbanić, Boris has performed one of the most important roles, starring next to Jasna Djuricic ( EFA “European Film Academy” Awarded Actress  – his wife).

“Quo Vadis Aida?”  was officially nominated for the Oscars in the category Best International Feature Film and was nominated in two categories for the British BAFTA Film Award – for Best Director and Best Non-English Language Film. Also, the film received extremely high marks from American critics, with an average rating of an incredible 96 on Metacritic. The Movie won the UNIMED award at the 77th Venice Film Festival

2020

Film ” Father” with Boris in the one of the leading roles was  premiered shown and twice awarded on Berlinale. Boris’ great performance was noticed by many international critics.

This was one of his many collaborations with director Srdan Golubović-who is a multi-awarded director with internation recognitions. This project received many awards at the following film festivals: Berlin International Film Festival (2020), Calgary International Film Festival (2020) /Best International Feature, International Narrative Competition, Chicago Serbian Film Fest (2021), Cleveland International Film Festival (2021), Dublin International Film Festival (2021), East-West: Golden Arch International Film Awards (2021), European Film Awards (2020), Faro Island Film Festival (2021), FEST International Film Festival (2020). Glasgow Film Festival (2021), Hainan International Film Festival (2020), Jerusalem Film Festival (2020), K3 Film Festival (2020), Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” (2020), Pula Film Festival (2020), Sofia International Film Festival (2020), Thessaloniki Film Festival (2020), Trieste Film Festival (2021), CEI Award [Winner], Zagreb Film Festival (2020),etc.

Boris took a part in British movie UNIVERSAL production ” The Last Christmast”, with Emma Thompson and Emilia Clark.
